You left me no choice. I didn’t know you. I grew up without you. I was raised without you. We didn’t share in any of my achievements or heartache. I didn’t learn from you, but I did learn in spite of you. But you are gone now. The notion of ever being able to sit with you and have somewhat of a conversation is gone now. A conversation which many in my place would have wanted to have with someone who’s DNA is part of them. A conversation about the present, because you didn’t have the right to know my past, but a conversation nonetheless. I won’t miss you, and forgiveness seems out of place, for you didn’t cause me any anguish or pain. But I will pray that you are resting in peace.
Thank You for my name,
Daniel Luis Pino
